  1. I still have birds in my orchard after I've used Bird Shield. What
    gives? Is the product bad?

  2. It's a common question with a common answer. Most of the birds you see have been feeding off of insects and have nests in the orchard. You can't drive the birds off of their nests and they will continue to feed on the insects even though there is good looking fruit hanging on the tree. It may look good but it does not taste good to them.

  3. Can I use Bird Shield, to keep
boat-tail grackles off of my tables, table umbrellas and generally
making a mess at my outdoor restaurant?

  4. Yes, but. . . you won't have any customers. The repellent can not be washed off the tables where it will stay for a long time. Depending on the what the umbrellas are made from, the repellent may severely stain or damage the material. The odor, which can be quite pleasant, can become overpowering on hot, confining day. So you have to throw the tables and umbrellas away and start over. Of course the birds never are far away. Don't waste your time with electronic or mechanical devices (scarecrows). The birds get use to them within a couple of days. You need to enlist the assistance of your local USDA, PHIS, Wildlife Services agent. It is this kind of problem that they are paid to help with.

  5. Jack Mitteer Writes:

Hi I have customer that has used your birdshield in the past and said there was a smell to it. I sold him more this last month and he says it wasn’t as strong as smell as in the past years. Did your company change to a less of a smell product? Please let know.

    Greetings Jack.

Bird Shield definitely has an odor. That is one of the reasons it works
so well because the birds associate the odor with the taste and as long
as there is some odor on the crop, even if we can't smell it, they can
because they have a much better sense of smell. Your customer's comments
are not uncommon. We get a lot of repeat users who tell it that it had a
stronger smell the first year while, at the same time their neighbor so
has used it for several years, tells us that it does not smell as strong
even though it is the same batch.

We have not changed the formulation. It still has the full 26.4% methyl
anthranilate active ingredient base (the competitor only has 14%). That,
    by law, can't change.

Hope this helps. Let us know if we can help in any other way.
